It only took one video of Mirror’s Edge in action to convince me to buy this game as soon as it was released. It was an absolutely refreshing take on a FPS, ditching all old conventions of the genre and presenting something that was fast, fluid, and breath-taking. Just as the first videos that trickled out were exciting to watch, the game is also exciting to play. The sense of speed and freedom of running is exhilarating. But while the game is built on a solid foundation, the blocks put on that foundation are weak.

Assassin’s Creed is a strange game to review. Strange because the game we got was quite different than the game we were shown in previews. Strange because of the bizarre choices Ubisoft made during the development of the game. It’s a hard game to rate, because while there are some major accomplishments in the game, the game also stumbles in ways that were avoidable.

I have to hand it to Suda51; No More Heroes could sell based on the description alone. A man named Travis Touchdown, who is bored with the typical life of watching porn and playing video games, decides to spice up his existance by buying a homemade lightsaber on Ebay and going on a mass killing spree to become the best assassin in the world. Even without reading a review, it had me convinced. I mean, with a back story like that, how could this game fail? But on the other hand, the studios previous effort, Killer 7, also featured an amazing story yet failed miserably at gameplay. So then the question becomes, did they learn from past mistakes? I am happy to report that, while not perfect and certainly not for everyone, No More Heroes is definitely one of the best games available for the Wii.

The Final Fantasy VII franchise is big. Considered one of the finest RPG’s ever created, it’s no wonder that anything bearing its name instantly gains attention. Following up such an epic adventure is no small feat, and though the movie spinoff Advent Children was quite good, the first true game sequel, Dirge of Cerberus, was terribly lackluster. On the heels of a failed sequel to such a huge franchise, the newest adventure in the Final Fantasy VII world, Crisis Core, has some huge expectations to fulfill. And while this prequel is by no means the 50+ hour epic adventure that the original was, it definitely proves that the series still has much more to offer.

The prior review is for the movie “Crank”, which was the most wonderfully demented movie of 2006. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the most demented movie of 2007, “Shoot ‘Em Up”.

Doc Miles: What are you doing?
Chev Chelios: Driving through a mall….. cops are chasing me
That conversation from early on in the movie pretty much sets up the entire tone of the movie.
